Greentube, the digital division of NOVOMATIC, went live in Alberta on 20 July 2026, the day the province opened its online gambling market to competition.
Alberta already had legal online gambling through Play Alberta, the government-run site that has operated since 2020. The change ends that monopoly and allows private operators and their suppliers to enter.
Greentube said it has secured registration with Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC). The announcement did not include a registration number.

Greentube did not name the operators offering the games at launch.

David Bolas, commercial director at Greentube, said the Alberta launch “reflects the strong momentum we are seeing in Canada”.
Why it matters
Alberta follows Ontario as the second Canadian province to open its online market to private competition. Suppliers with an Ontario presence are well placed to move quickly, and Greentube has been live in Ontario since 2022.

Suppliers in the province must hold AGLC registration before their content can be offered, which makes early approval a commercial advantage when the market opens.
For operators entering Alberta, day-one access to content from established suppliers is part of competing with an incumbent that has had the market to itself for six years.
